The Rescue mode is used for automatic model recovery when it dropped under pre-programmed altitude.

This feature is available only for Spirit GT and Spirit GTR. Pilots with other units can use similar function called Altitude Limit that is available for all with Spirit GeoLink module.

The Rescue, so called Bailout, is activated by the pilot remotely with a preferred switch on the transmitter. It can be engaged whenever in flight, but not during lift off or landing.

Whenever it is needed, activate the Rescue. From this point, unit will learn altitude at which you want to rescue model automatically. This altitude is in memory as long as feature is remained activated with assigned switch. When function is turned off and on again, it will learn new altitude limit for the Rescue. You can use different Altitude Limits during flight. It is enough to re-activate the Rescue (Automatic) with assigned switch at desired altitude. Feature can be also used as Rescue (Normal) if you engage it with a momentary switch.

We highly recommend to use a 2-state switch for this feature..

1 Configuration

There are 3 possible ways how to configure the Rescue (Automatic). The easiest way (available from firmware version 3.4.0) is following:

  1. Set Stabi/Function to Selected by Channel.
  2. Assign a free channel in the General - Channels (right side of the window) and choose function F: Rescue (Automatic).
  3. Now you can engage Rescue (Automatic) with assigned switch in your radio.

It will start rescue automatically anytime when model will drop under level. Triggering level is programmed during flight from altitude when you engage the function.

2 Characteristics

Upon activation of the Rescue (Automatic) the model will perform the following:

  1. Collective pitch will be set automatically to allow ascending (depending on the Rescue collective parameter).
  2. Model will move as fast as possible to recover the Horizontal position (depending on the Cyclic Ring and Rescue - Smoothing Factor settings).
  3. The model will ascend in inverted position (or position which is closer) for configured Acro Delay period. Then will flip so the skids are down. If Acro Delay is 0.0s, the flip will occur immediately after the activation.
  4. The model will ascend only for period of 1,5 second.
  5. After 1,5 second pilot will regain full control and can continue flying even when function is active.
  6. When model will drop under altitude level at which the Rescue (Automatic) was activated it will engage the Rescue on its own and it will continue from Step 2.
  7. After automatic recovery that will last always 1,5 second only, pilot can always fly normally and all the steps are repeated if model will drop under Altitude that is used as treshold.

Info.png Pilot have still possibility to control the model - depending on the Sticks priority value. Collective pitch will be fully controlled by the unit.

Warning.png Due to high demands for a power supply (BEC) it is recommended to verify that it can handle high current spikes! These will occur in the moment of activation. You can use the BEC Tester built-in in the Spirit Settings software.

Warning.png Do not set too high angles for the Cyclic pitch (Cyclic Ring - Aileron/Elevator Range parameter) else the boom strike may occur! To prevent this, it is recommended to not exceed recommended angles by manufacturer of the model and to maintain moderate head speed.
